STARS Global Preparatory

Miami, Fla.

A native of Miami, Egleevelyn (Eglee) Nuñez-Sancristobal has had an educational career specializing in early childhood, ESL and special education. Working with several co-founders, Eglee launched STARS Autism School in 2011 and served as its first principal. In response to parent requests to bring her engaging and well-rounded learning environment to a school that would serve children of all abilities and backgrounds, Eglee designed STARS Global Preparatory while participating in The Drexel Fund’s Founders Program in 2019-20. With a mission to prepare students to become active, global citizens committed to a life of community engagement and democratic participation through an academically rigorous culture of service, STARS Global provides an experiential education program with service-learning as the centerpiece of its instructional practice. Service-learning is built into the school day to encourage students at all grade levels to use academic knowledge and skills to find viable solutions to real community needs. Each grade level partners with a community organization so that students and community members will have a lasting bond through service. Launched in fall 2021 with grades K-3.
