Lisa Swinson is the founder of Creative Minds Microschool, an innovative K-8 microschool that will offer individualized learning plans to keep students engaged and confident as they progress at their own pace. The school’s flexible schedule and non-traditional approach will encourage students to connect their studies with real-world experiences and foster a deep understanding that makes learning more relevant and engaging, ensuring students grow into well-rounded individuals equipped with the skills needed to thrive in a changing world. The curriculum emphasizes project-based learning with a strong focus on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math).
Lisa holds a doctorate in educational leadership and supervision from North Carolina State University, and her career spans numerous roles, including serving as a National Board Certified elementary teacher, a state education consultant with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, principal,and curriculum director. These experiences have equipped her with a comprehensive perspective on the challenges and opportunities within K-12 education. She sees CMM as more than an educational institution: It will be a community committed to fostering a love of learning and developing well-rounded, confident and capable young individuals.
