Dr. Tonya R. Strozier is the visionary founder and CEO of Ubuntu STREAM Academy for Girls, an innovative school serving grades 5-8, opening in fall 2026. Building on her impactful initiatives through Black and Brown Girl Wellness, Inc., Dr. Strozier empowers girls with wellness, STEM workshops, and engaging community events. She also co-leads the Ubuntu Black Girl Book Club, highlighting her passion for literacy and community.
Ubuntu STREAM Academy emphasizes sisterhood, leadership, knowledge, and service, creating an inclusive environment where young girls flourish academically and socially. Dr. Strozier brings over 20 years of experience as a principal, specializing in school transformation and high achievement.
Dr. Strozier holds a Ph.D. in Psychology, Technology, and Learning and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. She is a certified superintendent and author of “Design Your School: Building Heart-Centered Schools that Inspire, Empower, and Achieve.”
Previously, Dr. Strozier led a district department supporting more than 4,000 African American students, demonstrating a commitment to equity, excellence, and the boundless potential of every student.
